Descano seeks to continue to build broad-based safety and justice for Fairfax County
(Fairfax County, VA) Today, Steve Descano officially announced his campaign to seek re-election as Commonwealth’s Attorney for Fairfax County.
“I’m proud of the great strides my office has taken in creating a criminal justice system where safety and justice go hand in hand and look forward to building on our success,” Descano says. Since taking office in 2020 Descano has delivered on promises aimed at improving our justice system which include creating diversion programs that reduce crime, using data to undo disparities and reach better outcomes, and restructuring the office around victim-centered prosecution to focus on the individual needs of victims.
The campaign is proud to announce broad community support including endorsements from State and Local leaders: Senator Janet Howell (SD-32), Senator Jennifer Boysko (SD-33), Senator Barbara Favola (SD-31), Delegate Karrie Delaney (HD-67), Delegate Dan Helmer (HD-40), Supervisor John Foust (Dranesville), Supervisor Rodney Lusk (Franconia), Supervisor Dan Storck (Mount Vernon), Supervisor Walter Alcorn (Hunter Mill), and Councilmember Cesar del Aguila (Herndon).

“Every day my office continues the important work to give our community a justice system that reflects our values while keeping Fairfax County the safest jurisdiction of its size anywhere in the country. We have worked hard to deliver these successes and are encouraged by the fact that since taking office Fairfax County has seen crime fall by almost 10%,” Descano says reflecting on his time as Commonwealth's Attorney.
