The endorsement tops a growing list of leading Democratic officials

(Fairfax County, VA) Today, Steve Descano announced the endorsement of Governor Terry McAuliffe for his re-election as Fairfax County Commonwealth’s Attorney.

“I endorsed Steve in 2019 because I believed in his vision to bring much needed reform to our justice system. His ability to deliver on that vision has made Fairfax County fairer and more just while keeping our community safe. That’s why I’m endorsing Steve once again,” said Governor McAuliffe.

The announcement follows recent endorsements from other high profile Democratic elected officials, Congressman Gerry Connolly (VA-11) and Congressman Don Beyer (VA-8).

“I’m thankful for the endorsement of Governor McAuliffe, one of my earliest supporters in 2019, and his support for the broad-based safety and justice we are building in Fairfax County. Gov. McAuliffe has led efforts to reform our criminal justice system in the Commonwealth, including the historic restoration of voting and civil rights for approximately 200,000 Virginians who had paid their debt to society. Gov. McAuliffe knows what it takes to tackle a system resistant to change,” said Descano.

The campaign had previously announced the endorsements of State and Local leaders including: Senator Janet Howell (SD-32), Senator Jennifer Boysko (SD-33), Senator Barbara Favola (SD-31), Delegate Karrie Delaney (HD-67), Delegate Dan Helmer (HD-40), Supervisor John Foust (Dranesville), Supervisor Rodney Lusk (Franconia), Supervisor Dan Storck (Mount Vernon), Supervisor Walter Alcorn (Hunter Mill), and Councilmember Cesar del Aguila (Herndon).
